====================================================================== Fire GL4 AGP BIOS Update ====================================================================== Release Notes ------------- This is the BIOS version 1.26 for the Fire GL4 graphics card. Following issues fixed or addressed: 1.26: - introduced in 1.24 - toggle dos box crashes are seen in Windows XP 1.25: - AMD 762 dual processor chipset based systems are running now w/ AGP 4X speed. Please use driver w/ version 4.00.1381.2080, 5.12.2195.2080, 6.12.10.2080 or higher for Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP respectively 1.24: - more fixes for w/ PC Doctor 2000 hangs 1.22: - Compatibility issues with VIA chipset based motherboards. - Compatibility issues with AMD chipset based motherboards. - AGP speed reduced to 2X w/ VIA, AMD and Intel i840 rev. 02 chpisets - Corrupted screen w/ PC Doctor 2000. 1.20: - text corruption on some Compaq Workstations during boot up 1.14: - Floppy read errors in specific HP Workstations. 1.08: - Corrupted display with Korean Windows 9x startup disk (MSHBIOS.COM). Pre-Installation Notes ---------------------- To ensure a successful bios update, it is required that your system is started using a DOS boot disk. Please expand all files to a DOS boot disk (default is "A:\"). To create a DOS boot disk, please see notes below: NOTE: DOS Startup disks can only be created in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Windows XP or older versions of DOS. Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 are not capable of creating a bootable floppy disk. In order to successfully use this update, you will need to have access to a machine running one of the before mentioned operating systems. BIOS Flash Installation Notes ----------------------------- The following steps are recommended to properly update the Fire GL4 with this updated SAND.BIN: 1. Create a DOS system boot disk. Ensure that this boot disk has no AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS on it. See the above for instructions on how to do this. 2. If not already done, copy the contents of this BIOS set to the DOS system boot disk. 3. Boot the system from this disk. 4. Type "UPD.BAT" without the quotations, followed by 5. After the flash process has completed, reboot the system. 6.
